Both have hosting and network costs. Lightning custody depends on your connection. Wholly Crypto uses external services for blockchain access; public endpoints can have quotas or missing history.

Exchange conversion is optional. Funds sent to an exchange are held there; account requirements, trading fees and network fees apply. Conversion does not include a bank payout.

A few things worth knowing.
Is Wholly Crypto free like BTCPay Server?
No. The default processing fee is 1%, based on the invoice’s original fiat value. It comes from your prepaid credit, not a split of the customer’s payment. Hosting and blockchain fees are separate. How pricing works.
What happens if my credits run out?
You can still create checkouts and receive payments. Notifications, sending and sweep automation, new exchange conversions and some management actions pause until credit recovers. See the full list.
Do I have to leave BTCPay Server?
No. If Bitcoin, Lightning and open-source software without a processing fee cover your needs, BTCPay Server may already be the right fit. Try Wholly Crypto if you want a shared workflow for more chains and tokens.
