Bitcoin & UTXO wallets

New address per invoice

Where payments arrive

Payments arrive at separate invoice addresses within one chain wallet. The displayed wallet total combines tracked addresses; it is not the balance of the base address alone. This guide concerns on-chain payments, not Lightning.

Back up & recover

  1. For Bitcoin use a compatible BIP-39 native SegWit wallet with path m/84'/0'/0'/0/{index}. Restore the right account and scan through the highest allocated invoice index, including unpaid invoices.
  2. An external wallet’s address gap limit can hide later payments after many unused invoice addresses. Keep the last allocated index and a full application backup. Other UTXO chains use different paths and address formats; use their exported derivation details, not Bitcoin’s path.
  3. The phrase covers derived addresses; the primary private key covers only index 0. Wholly Crypto’s Zcash receive flow uses transparent addresses, not shielded addresses.

Keep secrets offline. Do not upload your backup or paste recovery words into a web tool. Verify a recovered public address first. A wallet seed does not restore your invoice database.

A practical way to manage funds

Bitcoin can spend outputs from several addresses in one transaction. You do not need to consolidate every payment. If you choose consolidation, use a fee-aware threshold and consider privacy: combining outputs publicly links them.

Built-in sending is available for Bitcoin, not automatically for every UTXO chain listed here. Use a compatible external wallet for unsupported sends. Fees depend on transaction size and input count, not just the value sent.

Check in Wholly Crypto

Open Project → Wallets → Addresses. Search by address, invoice ID, order ID, memo/tag or index. Balances are cached, so review a fresh transfer quote before sending.
